Turkish parliament approves sending troops to Libya
SANAA, Jan. 2 (YPA) – Turkish parliament on Thursday approved the presidential request to authorize the government to send troops to Libya.
The vote came with 325 votes to 184 on the request to authorize the government to provide various support, including sending troops to Libya.
Last week, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey would deploy forces in Libya to support the internationally recognized national Wefaq government.
Al-Wefaq government has requested Turkish support as it faces an offensive by eastern Libya (the Libyan National Army) led by Khalifa Haftar, which is supported by Russia, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan.
