Pentagon sends 750 soldiers to Middle East

SANAA, Jan. 1 (YPA) – US Defense Secretary Mark Asper announced that the Pentagon will immediately send about 750 additional soldiers to the Middle East “in response to the attack on the American embassy in Baghdad, according to Washington Post.”

“About 750 soldiers will be deployed to the area immediately,” Asper said in a statement, apparently confirming the information of a US official who said earlier that the United States had sent 500 soldiers to Kuwait, which borders Iraq.

“This deployment is a preventive and appropriate measure in response to the increasing levels of threat against American individuals and facilities, as we witnessed in Baghdad,” he added.
