16 killed by typhoon in Philippines
SANAA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Typhoon Phanfone has killed at least 16 people in the Philippines after the Phanfone stormed ashore on Christmas Day, officials said on Thursday.
Disaster agency officials confirmed that 16 people were killed in the central Philippines, according to “Agence France-Presse.”
More than 4,000 people were forced to flee their homes in five provinces in the eastern Philippines, and at least 83 local trips were canceled due to bad weather, while power was cut off in some of the affected areas.
Phanfone is the 21st typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, according to the meteorological office, which indicated that the typhoon is expected to leave the Philippines on Saturday.
