Islah militias recruit children from Marib, Jawf to fight in Shabwa

SHABAWA, Dec. 24 (YPA) – Islah Party militias continue to breach the international, laws and conventions on the protection of children through the continued recruitment of children in provinces located under their control, sources reported on Tuesday.

According to the sources, Islah militias in Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen, had recruited hundreds of children under the age of 18 to exploit them in sabotage acts in Shabwa and Abyan provinces.

“Islah Party brought children from Marib and Jawf provinces and part of them from Shabwa province after its militias took control of Ataq city, the capital of the province, in last August,” the sources said.

Islah militia leaders carried out extensive recruitment operations for children, trained them in their camps in Shabwa, and pushed them into confrontations against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militias in Shabwa and Abyan provinces, the sources explained.
