Deputy PM praises Health Ministry’s efforts to combat epidemics

SANAA, Dec. 23 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Dr. Hussein Maqbouli on Monday praised the Health Ministry’s quick response to control diseases and epidemics, especially H1N1 swine flu.

In a meeting held in Sanaa to discuss the results of the campaign to combat dengue and malaria and the epidemiological situation locally, regionally and internationally, Dr. Maqbouli also hailed the efforts of medical personnel in health facilities to treat the cases infected with H1N1 virus.

During the meeting, Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutwakil noted to the measures taken to combat and confront dengue fever and malaria, confirming the readiness of government and private hospitals to receive any suspected cases of the seasonal flu.

Dr. al-Mutwakil gave a brief explanation about the work of rapid response teams in reporting on any case infected with the disease, not only at the province level, but also at the district level.

The meeting reviewed the Health Ministry’s interventions with regard to the prevention of diseases and epidemics and the ministry’s emergency plan to intervene at the level of Tihama provinces, namely Hodeidah, Hajjah, Mahweet and Rayma.
