American soldier killed in clashes in Afghanistan
SANAA, Dec. 23 (YPA) – An American soldier from the “Resolute Support” mission led by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was killed during clashes in Afghanistan on Monday.
According to “Xinhua”, the coalition said in a brief statement: “A member of the American forces was killed during the fighting in Afghanistan.”
The statement did not provide any details, saying only that: “According to the policy of the US Defense Department, the name of the soldier who was killed during the battles is withheld until 24 hours after completing the notification of his closest relatives.”
The so-called resolute support mission led by “NATO” began in January 2015 after the “NATO” and the United States ended their combat mission.
Currently 16,000 foreign troops are stationed in Afghanistan, and according to what has been announced, the number of American forces killed has exceeded 2400 since the United States occupied Afghanistan in 2001.
