Oman’s Sultan travels to Belgium for medical examinations

MUSCAT, Dec. 7 (YPA) – Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed of the Sultanate of Oman traveled to Belgium on Saturday for medical examinations, according to a statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court.

The statement added that “the medical examinations will take a limited period of time,” without going into details about the Sultan’s condition.

This is the third time the Sultan has traveled for health reasons in the last five years, as he has traveled abroad for medical reasons at least twice since 2014.

Sultan Qaboos, 79, has ruled the Sultanate of Oman since he took power in a white coup in 1970, with the help of Britain, the former colonial power in Oman at the time.
