Two Saudi Pilots killed as Yemeni army shoots down Apache helicopter

SANAA, Nov. 29 (YPA) – Two Saudi Pilots have been killed on Friday, when the air defenses of the Yemeni army shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter off Asir province.

Yemen press Agency (YPA) obtained the names of the two pilots.

The names of the Saudi pilots who were killed on board the Apache are:

  • Pilot Abdul Majid Mohammed Al-Omari
  • Lieutenant Pilot / Saud Saad Al-Shahri

Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e confirmed in a brief statement that “Yemeni air defenses were able to shoot down a Saudi Apache aircraft with a new surface-to-air missile.”

He added that “the operation is documented by the Military Media of the Yemeni army Unit.”

He explained that the helicopter was shot down this morning in Majazah area off Asir province while carrying out hostilities.

Both the aircraft and its crew were burned, he added.

“Approaching the airspace of Yemen is prohibited and will not be a place for a picnic for anyone and that it will address all attempts by enemies until it reaches full protection of Yemeni airspace,” he concluded.
