Al-Houthi calls on Riyadh to respond to peace initiative publicly
SANAA, Nov. 18 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council], Mohammed Ali al-Houthi called on Saudi Arabia to bypass the “secrecy of the response” to the initiative of President of the Supreme political Council, Mahdi Al-Mashat, to stop the war and bring peace, and to officially announce its response.
He stressed that the interests of the two countries are not with the so-called “mercenaries”, but with those who sacrifice their blood for the independence of their homeland.
Mohammed al-Houthi commented on Saudi Arabia’s partial moves to respond to the peace initiative announced by the president of the Supreme Political Council, to stop the air and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia in exchange for alike response.
“The answer in secret does not drop the order to respond. This is how the jurists say, referring to the need for Riyadh to officially declare approval and response to the initiative,” He said in a tweet after midnight Sunday addressing Saudi Arabia.
Al-Houthi has hinted to Riyadh that its interest sits in a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement with those fighting for Yemen’s independence and stability, not with those who take the war as a craft to reap money and personal interests.
“The Yemeni people are paying their blood for freedom and independence, defeating aggression and lifting the blockade, while mercenaries are selling the republic of Yemen, besieging its people, and plundering its bounties, in order to improve decades of slavery and tyranny,” he said in a second tweet.
Mohammed al-Houthi stressed that the prevailing in the end is in favor of the people closest to the people and those who are most closely associated with them and who demand public benefits for all the people and not to elites in it.
He continued: ” The blood of martyrdom is the sacrifice of the independence of a nation, and the colonizer will not accept free agents, or mercenaries of agents.”
On a related note, he called for a special commemoration of World Children’s Day documenting the suffering of Yemeni children as a result of the Saudi-led coalition and what have affected them of killing, wounding, starvation, disease, deprivation and displacement, and delivering them to the world as they should.
He said in a third tweet: “November 20, International Children’s Day, and we call for a student stand bearing pictures of the martyrs of the Children of Yemen in front of the UN office, and the preparation of a program for Yemeni schools that begins by reading fatiha on their colleagues and exposes the American-Saudi aggression.”
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi called on artists across Yemen to participate in these event, saying: “We call on designers to participate in the design of a monument that combines their oppression with crimes of aggression against children.”
Reports from UN organizations in Yemen and regional, international and local organizations agree that coalition airstrikes have killed and injured at least 10,000 children in Yemen, causing tens of thousands of deaths from diseases, malnutrition and hunger.
