TAIZ, Nov. 11 (YPA) – Armed groups attacked on Monday the building of the Immigration and Passport Department in center of Taiz city, southwest Yemen.
Sources said that gunmen fired a barrage of bullets at the Passport Department’s building and forced the employees to leave and close it to citizens.
This comes a few days after the resumption of work in the Immigration and Passport Department’s branch in Taiz, which has been suspended for the past two months.
According to the sources, the same armed gang also attacked the house of the passports department’s director in al-Shammasi neighborhood and besieged it with children and women inside.
The attacks come against the backdrop of the killing of deputy director of the passports department last June by a military police member, the sources said.
The sources explained that the gang is trying to subdue the passport department director and force him to intervene to end the case of the killing of his deputy, through conciliation away from the courts.
