UN: 114 Somali refugees evacuated from Yemen
SANAA, Oct. 29 (YPA) – The United Nations announced on Tuesday the voluntary evacuation of 114 Somali refugees from Yemen to their country.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said in Twitter that: “These – refugees – were evacuated on Monday, through the port of Aden in southern Yemen.”
The UNHCR added: “This came within the program of automatic return of Somali refugees who wish to return to their homes.”
Yemen is a destination for refugees and migrants from the Horn of Africa, especially Somalia and Ethiopia, and many of them aim to move on their difficult journey to the Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia.
According to previous UN figures, Yemen hosts 280,000 refugees and migrants, mostly from Somalia.
