Coalition wounded protests turn into anti-corruption revolution in Taiz

TAIZ, Oct. 24 (YPA) – Demonstrations held by wounded of Saudi-led coalition soldiers continue in Taiz for the third day in a row, protesting against the neglect they are subjected to by the exiled Hadi authorities in the province.

The demonstrations have shifted from protests against negligence, to a revolt against the corruption of the so-called “legitimate” authorities in the province, which included, among the wounded, various segments of the Taiz.

The slogans, written in red, painted the headquarters of the provincial “leadership” Oil Company in the City Center.

The protesters turned the wounded as a springboard to expose the large corruption practices of the Hadi authorities in Taiz province.

Human rights activists from the province said that it had crossed the line and became openly corrupted without any fear of being held accountable.

Although the city’s streets were cut off and tires were set to fire burned by protesters for the third day, the local authority leadership did not react to the issue of the wounded properly.

Some believe that the $300 million directed by Governor Nabil Shamsan is nothing more than an attempt to patch up the situation, which does not live up to the real treatment.

They said that the amount allocated to treat the wounded is estimated at one billion riyals, of which the wounded did not get much, wondering where the amount of the billion allocated to treat the wounded went?

It is worth mentioning that the wounded coalition soldiers in Taiz had staged several demonstrations and protests, demanding their right to treatment, most recently last July, in which the wounded were attacked by “security” gunmen after the wounded expelled the director of Al-Thawra Hospital from his office.

The demonstrations of the wounded come just two days after protests by cleaners and citizens in the city to demand workers’ benefits, which they said were looted by the city’s influential leaders, causing garbage to pile up and delay clean-up work.

While the city of Al-Turbah City continues to witness protests and demonstrations demanding the trial of the killers of the governor of Taiz bodyguard, by  militants affiliated with the Islah party last month.
