CAMA discusses mechanisms to “develop and modernize” Sanaa airport
SANAA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – A meeting was held on Sunday at Sanaa International Airport, chaired by Head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (CAMA), Dr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Abdul Qadir, discussed the mechanism of developing and modernizing the airport in the next phase in line with modern developments in the field of civil aviation.
The meeting reviewed the technical and professional aspects being applicable at the airport and the mechanism to develop and modernize in accordance with the requirements of (ICAO).
At the meeting, the head of the Authority stressed the keenness to improve level of air navigation services to prove to the world and the international community the readiness of the airport, which the aggression seeks to thwart in various ways and methods.
He explained that the authority and all its sectors are committed to the conditions and regulations of the International Organization for Civil Aviation.
Mohammed Abdul Rahman Abdul Qadir pointed out that the Authority has worked from the beginning of targeting the airport to keep it open in order to provide services continuously with high readiness through highly qualified professional cadres with outstanding experience in the field of civil aviation.
He stressed that the aggression prevents the entry of modern and new technical equipment into the country in order to paralyze civil aviation traffic in Yemen in general and Sanaa International Airport in particular.
For his part, Director-General of Sanaa International Airport Khaled Al-Shayef stressed that the airport has overcome the difficulties and problems imposed by the aggression through bombing vital facilities at the airport, including technical aspects, which are a link for domestic and international civil aviation.
He praised the level of support provided by the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority for Aviation at various technical and professional levels for the continuation of airport’s work under difficult circumstances that the country is going through due to the aggression, siege and the closure of Sanaa airport.
The Director-General of the airport expressed regret that the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) had disavowed the operation of the medical airlift for difficult medical conditions, which was scheduled to be launched today from Sanaa International Airport.
He said patients hoped that the United Nations could save their lives, as the situation was getting worse by the day and the international community had not moved to save more than 30,000 patients from various chronic and incurable diseases
