SANAA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – One of Yemeni junior soccer team players has refused to accept an award from Tawakol Karman, a leading activist of Yemeni Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) and a Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2011.
According to “Aden Al-Ghad” newspaper loyal to Saudi-led coalition , Hossam al-Sawdi surprised everyone by refusing Karman’s award, describing her as “non-sponsor of peace.”
Hossam explained that the Yemeni people have become scattered in the East and West “because of Karman and others aspirants like her at the expense of innocent Yemenis.”
Karman had earlier said it would honor the Yemeni soccer team players if they qualify for the Asian Cup finals, which they did on Sunday after winning their last match in the preliminaries.
