Yemeni community in Sweden start prosecuting UAE in European courts
STOCKHOLM, Sept. 15 (YPA) – Yemeni community in Sweden on Sunday announced the start of proceedings to prosecute the UAE in the Swedish and European courts for war crimes committed in Yemen and its support for terrorist groups.
“What the UAE is doing in Yemen is a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations by committing war crimes against the Yemeni people,” said a statement issued by a vigil organized by members of the Yemeni community in the Swedish capital Stockholm and called by Islah Party.
The protesters demanded that the UAE be expelled from Saudi-led war coalition in Yemen, because of its support for armed militias and terrorist elements in the southern provinces.
This came after the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militias seized control of all camps and state facilities in Aden and Abyan provinces in early August.
