Deputy FM, IOM discuss repercussions of illegal immigration to Yemen

SANAA, Sept. 9 (YPA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi, Head of the National Committee for Refugees, on Monday met with Acting Head of International Organization for Migration (IOM) Office in Sanaa Jennifer Pro.

At the meeting, al-Ezzi pointed to the exacerbation of the phenomenon of illegal immigration from the Horn of Africa to Yemen.
He referred to the negative effects resulting from this phenomenon, which add to the burdens borne by the National Salvation Government, especially in the difficult circumstances that Yemen is going through as a result of the aggression and economic blockade.

For her part, IOM’s official confirmed the organization’s keenness to redouble efforts during the coming period in coordination with the national authorities to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants to Yemen and the repercussions and negative effects resulting from it.

The meeting dealt with aspects of cooperation and coordination between Yemen and the Organization, as well as the steps required to improve the quality of the implementation of projects so as to contribute the achievement of humanitarian work goals.
