SANAA, Sept. 9 (YPA) – The UAE’s legitimacy in Yemen is the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2216, which calls for the return of the so-called legitimate government and the preservation of the unity of Yemen,” former US ambassador, Gerald Feierstein said on Twitter.
UAE legitimacy in Yemen is to implement UNSCR 2216, which calls for return of the legitimate gov’t and preservation of YE unity. Nature of the YE gov’t is for Yemenis to decide. Not UAE. Any Emirati action outside of 2216 is illegal. https://t.co/O1qu7bZt12

“The US diplomat pointed out that the issue of government in Yemen or secession is decided by the Yemenis themselves, not the UAE. “Any work of the UAE in Yemen outside 2216 is illegal,” he added.
He said in a tweet in response to the former son of Zayed’s advisor Abdulkhaliq Abdullah, who accuses the Yemeni government of betraying the coalition and corruption.
The White House administration has yet to announce a clear stance on the Aden coup and separatist control of the city, and the remarks have been left to second-class diplomats.
