Prisoners Committee calls on UN envoy to disclose obstructionist party to his initiative on prisoners

SANAA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – The National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs on Tuesday demanded that the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths disclose the obstructionist party that refuses his initiative regarding the exchange of prisoners.

Referring to what came in the UN envoy’s briefing to the Security Council Tuesday regarding the initiative he presented in the prisoner exchange file and that he hopes the parties to approve it, the committee said that it has studied the UN envoy’s initiative submitted on July 9, 2019, and responded to it in less than a week and assured him of its approval.

The committee added that it was surprised that the UN envoy totally ignored its approval on his initiative despite the intransigence of the aggression forces and their non-response to it so far.
