IMF calls on Hadi gov’t to pay salaries of all Yemenis

SANAA, July 20 (YPA) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has urged the exiled Hadi’s government to pay the public sector salaries in all Yemeni provinces without exception to alleviate the economic burdens suffered by the population due to the war and continuous siege.

“We urge Hadi’s government to pay salaries of all civil service throughout the country,” IMF said in a statement issued on Friday, after a team of the Fund met with Yemeni officials and participants in private sector in Jordanian capital city of Amman during July 10 -18.

The war has greatly inflamed the country’s suffering and restricted the flow of goods into Yemen, bringing millions to starvation and unemployment and paralyzing public services such as health and education.

The statement indicated that the transfer of the Central Bank of Yemen to Aden has contributed negatively to the non-commitment to pay the salaries of employees and retirees throughout the years of war.
