Security forces arrest man accused of killing his mother in Taiz

TAIZ, July 20 (YPA) – Security services in Taiz province, were able to arrest a man accused of killing his mother and stabbing his father and brother, at their home in Sharb al-Salam district, a security official told Yemen Press Agency.

“Investigations led to the arrest of the accused Alaa Amin Ahmed Sultan, after he escaped,” the Interior Ministry’s Security Information Centre quoted the sources as saying.

“The defendant committed the murder of his mother last Wednesday morning in the Sharb al-Salam,” security sources said.

The Ministry of Interior’s Information Center in the Salvation government confirmed that “the killer was arrested after follow-up and monitoring, and referred to legal proceedings”.

Alaa is accused of killing his mother and stabbing his father and brother at their home in Al-Zuha area of The Sharb al-Salam district in Taiz province last Wednesday.

“The suspect is named Salim al-Hajj and he slaughtered his mother, Fatima Abdel Kafi, and stabbed his father and brother,” local sources said.

The circumstances and motives of the crime are not yet clear, but rumours say that the accused was involved in intense altercations with his mother, his father and a sister over a family dispute.
