5 UAE-backed militia elements killed in Abyan

ABYAN, July 19 (YPA) – Five militiamen loyal to the UAE occupation were killed on Thursday in an attack by unknown gunmen in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Sources in the province said that unknown gunmen carried out a sudden and violent attack with various weapons and grenades last night on a military point belonging to militia of the so-called “security belt forces” loyal to the UAE in al-Mahfad district.

The attack killed five elements of the military point and injured another, while the attackers withdrew without any losses, the sources added.

The offensive operations have repeated recently against military points and positions of the UAE-backed militias as a result of the incursions into citizens’ homes and violations committed by the militias in the districts of the province.
