Hadi’s forces inflict losses on UAE militia in Shabwa

SHABWA, July 19 (YPA) – Violent clashes continued on Friday between gunmen loyal to exiled Hadi’s government and the military leader in Islah Party Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar on one hand and UAE-backed militias on the other hand in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

The clashes broke out on Thursday when the soc-called “Shabwaniya elite” militia loyal to the UAE intercepted gunmen from the so-called “special security forces” at al-Aram military point in Habban district while returning from Aden to Shabwa, sources reported.

The sources said that Hadi’s forces took control of the military point during the clashes, which left several dead and wounded in ranks of the UAE-backed militia.

They added that the security forces handed over the military point to the elite militia after a mediation and after the militia leaders pledged not to intercept any forces loyal to Hadi and al-Ahmar in Shabwa.
