UAE officers prevent re-operating Hadramout’s Shahr port

HADRAMOUT, July 18 (YPA) – Emirati officers on Thursday prevented Faraj Salmein al-Bahsani, governor of Hadramout province and commander of the so-called the second military region loyal to Hadi’s government, from re-operating the port of Shahr, which has been suspended for over three years.

According to “Anba Hadhramaut” website, al-Bahsani directed officials in Shahr port to re-operate the port, but the port’s managed, who received a copy of the governor’s decision, contacted with Emirati officers at Rayyan Airport and informed them of the governor’s decision.

The website said that the al-Bashani directed officials in Al-Shahr to work on the port’s operation. However, the port manager, who received a copy of the governor’s decision, contacted Emirati officers at Al-Rayyan Airport and informed them of the governor’s decision to return. Turn on the port.

The Emiratis directed the port manager not to allow the operation of the port and to reject the governor’s directives, the website added.

Shahr port stopped working after the UAE forces took control of the coast of Hadramout in April 2016. Some 2,500 workers lost their jobs, while the port’s revenues, which were a major tributary to the province, suspended. It has contributed significantly to the increase in the business as it was receiving a lot of goods.

The people of Hadramout live in panic and fear after the UAE-backed militias and others loyal to Saudi Arabia controlled the province amid the spread of criminal gangs and assassinations in each district of the province.
