Fire breaks out at animation studio in Japan, casualties reported

SANAA, July 18 (YPA) – A fire broke out at an animation studio in Japan on Thursday morning caused a number of deaths and injuries, police reported.

A fire broke out at an animation studio in Kyoto, Japan, on Thursday, killing a number of people, the Japan Broadcasting Corporation said, quoting police officials as saying.

The authority added that investigations are under way whether the fire was caused by a deliberate attack.

The police had not stated the number of casualties

The Radio and Television Corporation had earlier reported that a fire broke out at the Kyoto Animation Studio at around 10:30 a.m. and injured more than 30 people, 10 of whom were unconscious.
