7 Egyptian civilians killed by rocket in Sinai

SANAA, June 27 (YPA) – Seven people were killed on Wednesday night by a rocket-propelled grenade while they were gathering in Al-Arish, North Sinai, Egypt.

The media said that the shelling targeted the homes of citizens in the area of ​​Kilo 17 at the entrance to the city of Al-Arish, resulting in the deaths and injuries among civilians, while sitting to follow the match between the Egyptian team and the Congo team, the African Nations Cup.

According to “Russia Today” site,  tribal sources said: The 7 citizens of the tribe “Swarka” were killed after a shell fell on them during the gathering, adding that the bodies turned to pieces, and was transferred to the hospital of Al-Arish General.

It is not yet clear who fired the rocket.

The Egyptian security forces foiled over the past two days several attacks on the security points, the latest of which was an attack in the Masa’id area, killing at least one gunman.

Seven Egyptian policemen were killed on Tuesday, according to a statement by the Egyptian Interior Ministry, while 7 gunmen were killed when security men in northern Sinai confronted an armed attack on security points.
