Mercenary infighting leaves one killed, two injured in Taiz

TAIZ, June 24 (YPA) – One citizen was killed and two others were injured in armed clashes erupted on Sunday between coalition rival factions in the southwestern province of Taiz, local sources reported.

According to the sources, a dispute erupted between members of a military vehicle and gunmen belonging to the mercenary factions on Jamal Street in the center of the city.

The dispute developed into an exchange of gunfire between the mercenaries, killing one of the sellers and injuring two others, the sources added.

The mercenaries fled the scene after clashes, one of the sources said.

Over the past two months, Taiz has been witnessing violent confrontations between Salafist militias led by Abu Abbas and Islah party militias led by the city’s security, following which hundreds of families have been displaced from the city to Sanaa run by the Supreme Political Council, seeking a safe place to stay.
