Coalition forces continue to escalate in Hodeidah, damaging houses, property

HODEIDAH, June 22 (YPA) – Saudi-led coalition forces on Saturday continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in Hodeidah province by intensifying shelling and targeting civilians and their property, which resulted in casualties and damage.

A security source in the province said that al-Shajan village in outskirts of al-Durayhimi district besieged by the coalition forces was bombed with more than 19 mortar shells, which left damage to citizens’ homes and property.

The coalition forces’ artillery also shelled houses of citizens in Al-Jamal Roundabout and several neighborhoods of July 7 area and in the 50th Street, causing damage to property, the source added.

On Friday, a child was wounded when a mortar shell hit his family’s house in the countryside of Hays district.

In a statement issued late Friday, Spokesman of Ansaruallah movement and head of the national negotiating delegation Mohammed Abdulsalam held the coalition forces and their mercenaries responsible for the escalation of their attacks and violations in Hodeidah.

Abdulsalam renewed Sanaa’s commitment to Sweden Agreement and its practical steps in Hodeidah, calling on the United Nations “to play its role seriously.”
