YPC’s staff perform Eid prayer, continue sit-in in front of UN Office in Sanaa

SANAA, June 5 (YPA) – Employees of Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) on Wednesday performed Eid al-Fitr prayer and continued their sit-in for the 61st day in row in front of the United Nations Office in the capital Sanaa demanding the release of the oil ships held by Saudi-led coalition.

The protesters held a vigil and issued a statement, in which they confirmed that they would not leave the sit-in place until the release of all the oil vessels held by the coalition.

The statement mocked of remarks of the so-called “the economic committee in Aden” that announced that the oil derivatives crisis ended.

The statement called on the United Nations to press the aggression coalition to expedite the release of the oil ships, neutralize the oil company from conflicts and wars and lift the siege on Ras Issa oil facility.

YPC’s spokesman Ameen al-Shabati said that the ships had obtained permits from the United Nations in Djibouti, but they still have been held for 66 days so far.
