ASIR, May 30 (YPA) – The Yemeni army forces on Thursday have repelled three infiltration attempts carried out by mercenaries hired by Saudi-led coalition in Asir, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.
According to the official, the army forces thwarted three large-scale attacks of mercenaries of the Saudi army in Al-Raboua’a, Majazah and in front of Alib crossing, inflicting on them heavy casualties.
Units of the army foiled a large-scale attempt by mercenaries, which lasted 12 hours, under heavy air cover, towards a number of locations in front of Alb crossing, leaving deaths and injuries, the official said.
He indicated that a large number of Saudi Arabian army and its mercenaries were killed and wounded in a counterattack launched by the army forces in -Majazah, forcing them into retreat after suffering loss in lives and material equipment.
17 mercenaries were killed and 36 others injured in sniping and artillery attacks carried out by the army forces, during the break-up of failed attempts of the Saudi army and its mercenaries in Asir front, the official added.
It is worthy to say that the attacks lasted for hours with the participation of warplanes and Apache, but without making any progress on the ground.
