Police arrest suspect in planning assassination of President

SANAA, April 7 (YPA) – A security official told Yemen Press Agency on Saturday that police arrested a man suspected of planning an assassination of President Saleh Al-Sammad.

The suspect, Najeeb Abdullah Awn, headed a cell to monitor gatherings of citizens, sit-ins, and movements of the army and security men, the official said.

In investigations, Awn confessed he had received funds through a military commander loyal to Saudi-led coalition to carry out monitoring operations in favor of the coalition.

Awn handed over coordinates of the president’s convoy, during his visit to Jawf province, to the coalition forces, according to the official.
