6 people killed, including military officer after attack on protest site in Khartoum

SANAA – At least six people, including an army officer, were killed in the attack by unidentified assailants who were probably from the former regime against protesters in front of the Army command in central Khartoum, the Central Sudan Medical Commission said Tuesday.

A source said on Tuesday that five protesters at different ages were killed by live bullets.

Medical sources from hospitals built inside the sit-in headquarters said that the number of people injured in the two incidents had raised to 100.

The attack was strongly condemned by the head of the military council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and accused “circles that try to abort agreement with the forces of freedom and change”.

After the funeral prayers of the officer of the armed forces within the Ministry of Defense, he added that there were those who did not like what has been reached between the Council and the forces of change at the meeting on Monday.

Al-Burhan further pointed to the peaceful character of the Sudanese revolution adding “The army is committed to protecting the protesters and we will arrest the perpetrators and we will hold them accountable”.
