Fierce clashes between coalition rival militias in Taiz cause massive civilian displacement

TAIZ, April 25 (YPA) -Fierce clashes have erupted on Thursday morning between the militants of the Islah party and gunmen of the Abu al-Abbas brigades in Taiz province, causing a major displacement from the province.

A local source told the Yemen Press Agency that the clashes erupted in the neighborhood of the old City and expanded into Tahreer al-A’ala and the al-Jumhary Hospital.

The source added that the clashes have caused a large displacement of people from the old city. Al-Islah militants in Taiz are receiving support from Saudi Arabia, while the militants of the Abu Abbas brigades are receiving support from the UAE.

Taiz is the third-biggest city in Yemen, and is nearly completely surrounded by the forces of the National Salvation Government of Yemen.

However, the mercenary and terrorist forces supported by Saudi Arabia and the UAE have fallen to infighting for the past two years, significantly weakening their positions while the Yemeni liberation forces are liberating more and more parts of southern Yemen
