2,000 names verified yet in prisoner exchange lists: ICRC

SANAA, Jan. 26 (YPA) President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer on Saturday said the lists of prisoners provided by both parties to Yemen conflict included some 16,000 names, but the committee has only verified 2,000 names.

In a statement to Al-Jazeera Channel on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum “Davos 2019”, Maurer announced that the Committee has completed its logistical preparations for the exchange of detainees in Yemen between Sanaa authorities and the exiled Hadi’s government appointed by Riyadh. He added that the Committee obtained obligations to investigate the fate of the missing persons from both parties.

ICRC president pointed out that the humanitarian situation in Yemen is still unstable, and that it is difficult to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need due to continued fighting in different areas.
