Yemen Parliament appreciates US Senate decision to halt support for Saudi-led coalition

SANAA, Dec. 15 (YPA) – The Yemeni Parliament on Saturday appreciated the position of U.S. Senate members who adopted a joint resolution calling for a halt to military and logistical support to Saudi-led coalition countries in their war on Yemen.

This came in the parliament’s statement to the US senate, in which it described the move as “a victory for the values of democracy and justice.”

The statement said that despite the fact that this decision came too late after four years of the unjust war, which was announced from Washington, and claimed lives of 85 thousand children and displaced millions of Yemenis from their homes and left nearly 14 a million Yemenis on the edge of famine, however, as the saying goes, “to come late is better than not come.”

The parliament expressed hope that the representatives of American people in the US House of Representatives will follow their colleagues’ example in the Senate by approving the bill.

In its meeting, the parliament also listened to the letter sent by the parliament speaker Yahya al-Ra’i, to the US Congress.

In his letter, al-Ra’i called on the Congress members to support a comprehensive settlement ensuring a sustainable peace process in Yemen and to work to stop US support in all its forms for the Saudi and UAE regimes, which are the main and direct cause of the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.
