ABYAN, Oct. 29 (YPA) -A bus carrying 31 passengers en route to Saudi Arabia was engulfed in flames today, Monday, in Abyan province.
Local sources reported that the fire started in the bus’s engine, engulfing the vehicle belonging to a transportation company at the Sheikh Abdullah junction in the Dofas area of the Khanfir District.
According to the sources, an electrical short circuit, along with rising temperatures, sparked the fire in the bus, and efforts to control the flames were unsuccessful due to a lack of safety measures and fire extinguishers.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers, who managed to escape and remove their bags before the bus was completely destroyed.
This incident marks the second bus fire in Abyan since the beginning of October, following an earlier incident where a bus carrying 50 passengers caught fire in the Hassan area while returning from Saudi Arabia on their way to Aden.
