Swedish Prime Minister resigns 24 hours after her appointment

SANAA, Nov. 25 (YPA) – Sweden’s Prime Minister, Magdalena Andersson, tendered her resignation 24 hours after her appointment by Parliament.

Magdalena Anderson’s decision comes after her failure to pass the draft budget and the withdrawal of the “Green” party from the government coalition, Russia Today reported.

“There is a constitutional custom that the coalition government should resign if a party withdraws from it,” Anderson of the Social Democratic Party said in a statement to reporters.

Before she added, “I do not want to head a government whose legitimacy is challenged,” expressing her hope that she will be re-elected at a later time.
