Over 8 million riyals of illegal currency seized in Taiz

TAIZ, Sept. 20 (YPA) – The counter-smuggling unit of police branch in Taiz province on Monday seized an amount of illegal and counterfeit currency that the Saudi-led coalition had printed with the aim of harming the national economy.

The counter-smuggling unit in the province said that it had seized an amount of 7,342,500 riyals of illegal currency, and an amount of 1,132,000 of counterfeit currency.

An amount of 10,395,500 riyals of the national currency was seized, in violation of a circular issued by the Central Bank of Yemen for travelers not to carry more than 100,000 riyals to facilitate the investigation process and prevent the introduction of illegal and counterfeit currency, according to the counter-smuggling unit.
