Marib merchants stop dealing in new currency

MARIB, Feb. 15 (YPA) – Many shops in Marib city have stopped dealing in the new currency printed by the “Hadi government” loyal to Saudi-led coalition, local sources in Marib province told Yemeni Press Agency on Monday.

The sources reported that the merchants in the city of Marib began refusing to deal in the new currency about two days ago.

On their part, citizens have begun to exchange the new currency for the old currency, with the price difference being calculated in favor of the old one the sources added.

The sources confirmed that the goldsmith markets in the city of Marib are witnessing a great rush by the city’s residents to buy gold in the new currency, after the Sanaa forces approached the city.
