Trump’s special adviser resigns

SANAA, Dec. 1 (YPA) – A White House official said that Dr. Scott Atlas has resigned from his position as a special advisor to President Donald Trump, after four controversial months during which he repeatedly clashed with other members of the Coronavirus Crisis Cell.
“I announce my resignation from my position as Special Adviser to the President of the United States,” Atlas confirmed in a letter to Trump dated on Tuesday.
Atlas was considered a private government employee working for the president for a period of 130 days ending this week.
Atlas announced his resignation in a statement on his Twitter account, saying, “I am honored to serve Donald Trump and the American people in these difficult times.”
Atlas has come under fire from public health experts, including Anthony Fauci, a leading infectious disease expert in the United States, for providing Trump with misleading or incorrect information about the virus pandemic.
He also repeatedly downplayed the importance of face masks, and said this month that “the closures were a (miserable failure) to stop the spread of the virus.”
