6.3 earthquake hits Chile-Argentina border

SANAA, Dec. 1 (YPA) – An earthquake of a magnitude of 6.3 was reported on the border of Chile and Argentina, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said…

The earthquake had a depth of 147.8 kilometers and its epicenter was 76 kilometers south of the Argentinian town of San Antonio de los Cobres.

It also revealed that the quake occurred at a latitude of 24,379 south and 67,053 west long.

Chile has a long history of devastating earthquakes, including an earthquake in 2010 measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale off the south-central coast that triggered a giant tidal wave that devastated coastal towns.
