Lavrov accuses US, European countries of seeking to limit Russia’s development

SANAA, Oct. 27 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the US and European countries of seeking to limit his country’s development.

On Monday, Lavrov said that Russia does not impose its gas on anyone, and that the talk about Europe’s dependence on its gas is aimed at raising unfounded doubts.

“For many decades our country has been and continues to be a reliable and honest partner in terms of energy supplies… This is very well known in Zagreb, ” Sergei Lavrov said.

“Gas contracts with us are not politically motivated, we are talking about pure trade,” he added.

“America and a number of other European countries have recently stepped up their efforts to limit Russia’s development by imposing new sanctions, without providing facts about the charges,” Sputnik news agency reported.

The US Department of State  announced Tuesday that US sanctions on “Northern Current 2” will take longer for companies providing services or facilities to modernize or install equipment on ships to extend the pipeline.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has previously announced that Washington is forming an alliance to prevent the completion of the “Northern Current 2” project, and hopes that the construction of the pipeline will not be completed.
