SANAA, Oct. 5 (YPA) – Iraqi media reported, on Sunday evening, that two rockets landed near Baghdad International Airport.
According to Alsumaria News, two Katyusha rockets landed near Baghdad International Airport in the Iraqi capital.
The Iraqi media indicated that the missile strikes targeted the US military base near Baghdad airport, which caused warning sirens to sound inside the air port of the Iraqi capital.
A security source confirmed to Alsumaria, “Two missiles fell within the approaches of Baghdad International Airport.”
The source did not indicate any other details.
The last missile strike on Baghdad International Airport, last Sunday, September 20, was targeted by a Katyusha missile.
In a related context, the US ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Toller, confirmed, on Sunday, his country’s commitment to supporting the stability of Iraq and strengthening joint bilateral relations, during a meeting with Iraqi President Barham Salih at Baghdad Palace.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stressed in a phone call with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, last Friday, after Washington’s initial decision to withdraw its embassy from the Iraqi capital, that “The Iraqi government has taken a number of security, organizational, political, and diplomatic measures to stop the attacks on the Green Zone and the airport, and there will be tangible positive results in the near future.”
