Al-Ahmar forces take control over oil areas in Shabwah

SHABAWH, Sept. 24 (YPA) – The militants loyal Saudi-backed commander Hashim al-Ahmar have taken control of most of the oil areas in Shabwah province, in a move that reflects the escalation of conflict with southern military parties affiliated with the “Hadi” .

According to local sources in the province, the military commander “Hashim al-Ahmar” moved large forces from his camp in al-Abar area, on Tuesday, towards Shabwah and imposed a siege on the positions of the “2nd  Marine  Brigade” in a number of areas.

The sources confirmed that the al-Ahmar’s  gunmen took control of some oil areas, in the districts of Jardan , Aarin,  Yaher and  Wadi Jannah, and reached the vicinity of the city of Ataq.

The sources explained that al-Ahmar forces were able to expel the gunmen of the Brigade “, led by Jahadal Hanish al-Awlaki, from the Hershafan area.

According to the sources, the leader, Jahal al-Awlaki, had summoned some brigade battalions from the Abyan Front, accusing him of a coup against reform in Shabwah, in coordination with the Emirati-funded “Shabwah elite.”

The coup of the “Second Brigade” on Islah militants came after Shabwah’s governor affiliated to Islah party, Mohammed bin Bin Adiu was forced to issue decisions to appoint a coast guard officer as commander of the brigade, just a day after he  issued a decision to appoint a student at Iman University as commander of the brigade.
