UAE-backed militias arrest dozens of fishermen in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, May 16 (YPA) – Dozens of fishermen, including the head of the Fishermen’s Association in the city of Shahr city of Hadramoutt province, were arrested on Tuesday evening, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.

Troops backed by The United Arab Emirates (UAE) occupation forces arrested the head of Fishermen’s Association Salah al-Shabibi in addition to dozens of fishermen from the  Shahr district after they carried out a sit-in in front of the gate of Al-Rayyan Airport.

They demanded a halt of the arbitrary measures against the fishermen in the port and beaches of Shahr that  prevent them from fishing.

The sources revealed that more than 50 fishermen had been arrested and taken to unknown destinations, likely to be thrown into Rabwah secret prison in the city of Mukalla, which belongs to the Emirati occupation forces.

Hundreds of the people of Hadramout province are being held in secret prisons and secret detention centers for more than three years.

The Militias loyal to the United Arab Emirates use Rayyan Airport as a military base and secret detention centers.
