Two Iranian border guards killed in clash with gunmen

SANAA, Feb. 22 (YPA) – At least Two Iranian border guards were killed last night following an attack carried out by an armed group in a region bordering Pakistan in the south-eastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan .

Iranian police said in a statement on Saturday, that when tightening border measures, a number of terrorists have advanced in the border area with the aim of striking our units in the southeast of the country.

The police added that border guards had fired at the armed group, which had retreated, and that they had suffered heavy losses.

The Iranian border guards, Brig. Gen. Qassim Rezai went to the area to study the incident, the statement said.

The Jaish ul-Adl which Tehran designated as a terrorist organization, carries out armed attacks on Iran’s eastern border from Pakistani territory.
