Update: Egyptian Interior Ministry: 2 policemen killed, 3 wounded in suicide bombing in Cairo
SANAA, Feb. 19 (YPA) – Two policemen were killed and three others wounded After an improvised explosive device was carried by a militant while pursuing him in Cairo, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday in a statement.
The statement said that “during the move of a joint mission of the Security Directorate and the National Security Forces to arrest a terrorist in Ghuria area behind Al-Azhar Mosque, the militias blew himself up with a bomb after sensing near the troops from him.”
The Ministry said that as part of its efforts to search for the perpetrator of the incident of throwing a primitive device for security targeting in front of Al-Istiqama mosque in Giza after Friday prayers on January 15, its location was determined by the Dardiri sailors in Red Dar.
“The security forces surrounded him, and when he was caught and controlled, one of his explosive devices exploded, killing the terrorist, a police secretary from the national security and a police officer from the Cairo investigation as well as wounding two officers, one of them from the national security, the other from Cairo, “read the statement.
The Egyptian Interior Ministry later revealed that the bomber, who was in Al-Gamaliya district of central Cairo, was “Hassan Abdullah”, 37 years old.
Egyptian Attorney General Nabil Sadiq announced the formation of a team of public prosecutors to open an urgent investigation into the incident, which claimed the lives of three people, the terrorist and a security man, and wounded three others.
