FM confirms Sanaa commitment to Stockholm agreement
SANAA, Jan. 30 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Wednesday confirmed Sanaa’s commitment to what was agreed upon in Sweden consultations, while the other party has failed to fulfill its obligations to the agreement.
During his meeting in the capital Sanaa with the UN special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, the foreign minister indicated that it is clear that the other side is not serious about moving towards a political solution and is working actively to put obstacles to any tracks or signs of settlement.
Sharaf reviewed actions and procedures that confirm the incredibility of the other party in dealing positively with Stockholm agreements and confidence-building measures.
He pointed out that Sanaa had showed good intentions in dealing seriously with the prisoners file, the last of which was the release of the Saudi prisoner without any conditions because of his critical health condition.
The minister reiterated the importance of addressing the issues of the state employees’ salaries and the opening of Sanaa International Airport urgently, as that is a humanitarian requirement and constitutes the basis for reaching a comprehensive political settlement and sustainable peace.
For his part, Griffiths confirmed that he would continue his good endeavors to ensure the implementation of Stockholm agreements, as a step towards the political solution and peace in Yemen.
