Expected confrontations between coalition rival militias in Shabwah

SHABWAH, Jan. 22 (YPA) – Tribal crowds have gathered on Monday to al-Alam area in the occupied Eastern province of Shabwah to discuss the response to the attack of “Brigade 21”, militias on a camp of protesters last Friday as well as the attacks on “Dahr, Arma’a, Talah, and Jardan” tribes, tribal sources told Yemen Press Agency.

Tribal sources confirmed that the gunmen belonging to the so-called “presidential protection” abducted the citizen “Fadi al-Hujili” to a deserted area towards al-Alam area.

According to the sources, they beat him with a blunt object in various parts of his body and left him bleeding and escape. They thought he had died to hide their crime.

The sources added that the situation is tense, which threatens to explode militarily in the oil-rich region, which has been witnessing a conflict between the militias affiliated with the UAE occupation and the militias affiliated with the Islah Party to control the oil fields.

The sons of al-Alam area in the occupied Shabwah region are demanding their share of oil revenues, one of the sources said.

The Austrian company “OMV” operating in the “S2” oil sector in the province of Shabwah, southeast Yemen has stopped the pumping and production of crude oil from Al-Uqlah Oilfield on Sunday.

The pumping and production of crude oil from the field of “Al-Uqlah” was halted after the tribesmen cut off the locomotives for the transfer of crude oil from Sector S2 Uqlah to Sector 4 West Ayad in the province.

On Monday, Islah Party’s military leader, Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, threatened to burn oil wells in the province of Shabwah, if the so-called “Shabawanian Elite militias” took control and imposed its protection on oil companies in various oil sectors.
