WASHINGTON, Jan. 5 (YPA) – US Defense Department (Pentagon) on Saturday announced the killing of Jamal al-Badawi, one of the most prominent leaders of al-Qaeda in Yemen and accused of planning the attack on the destroyer “USS Cole” in 2000.
Al-Badawi was killed in a drone strike in Marib province, north-east of Yemen, according to a statement issued by Pentagon.
The statement said that the U.S. accuses al-Badawi of 55 “crimes of terrorism.”
