Consultations results are positive step to achieve Yemeni people aspirations: Al-Mashat

SANAA, Dec. 15 (YPA) – President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Saturday said that what has been achieved during Yemeni consultations held in Sweden last week is a positive step towards achieving the aspirations of Yemeni people.

During his meeting with members of the national negotiating delegation, the president confirmed that the national delegation was at the level of confidence and responsibility entrusted to it.

The president expressed his thanks to the UN Secretary-General and his envoy to Yemen and all brotherly and friendly countries for arrangements that contributed to the success of the consultations.

He praised the role of the Kingdom of Sweden in hosting the consultations, expressing the appreciation of Yemen’s government and people for the international and humanitarian organizations’ efforts to bring peace to Yemen.

The meeting reviewed the files discussed and the outcomes reached during the consultations in order to alleviate the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the war and siege.

The delegation members confirmed that their participation in these consultations represented a message to the world that the political leadership in Sanaa is seeking a just and honorable peace and is keen to mitigate the suffering of Yemeni people.
